What Is Wushu?

Through our experience which spans over 35 years, a lot of people are not sure of the difference between Karate and Kung Fu. In regards to efficiency, power, the ability to protect oneself and general health, they are both equal, based on the knowledge and the experience of the teacher. The difference is in their roots and history.

Kung Fu (Wushu) is the most original Chinese Martial Art born in China. Over the years it has developed into the art of Wushu international. Wushu international contains Tai Chi, Qigong, Meditation, San Shou (sanda), Taolu and the discipline of Shaolin Kung Fu for day-to-day life.

The reason for creating Wushu Sport as a TV channel is to offer the public an alternative way to achieve health and wellbeing. Also the channel will provide the public with the true history of Kung Fu (Wushu).

Wushu’s history goes back over 2000 years, when all the monks of the Far East and Asia used to meet in a place called Shaolin Temple in Henan province, China. One day an Indian prince called Bodidarma approached the monks indicating that together with the spiritual belief they must exercise. As a healthy body leads to a healthy mind and a healthy mind purifies one’s perception of the Divine.

Over the years the original style and essence of Shaolin Kung Fu (Wushu) has not changed. Total dedication and serious practice is required for the individual to become a master of the art. It consists of various routines which involve Martial

Arts movement. These include hand routines, short weapon routines such as swords and other short weapons and long weapon routines such as stick, spear and other long weapons and the fighting skill of San Shou (Sanda).

Over the years the sport has become Wushu international which has its unique legacy and unique performance.

Also the foundation of The Shaolin Temple is based on meditation, Qigong and Tai Chi. Meditation is the connection between the conscious and the subconscious and helps the individual to understand oneself. Qigong helps the individual to awaken their internal energy so, internally and externally, they are equally strong. Tai Chi is effortless combination of moves. It helps the individual to relax and holds the secret to understanding body movement in Martial Arts.

The Wushu Sport channel will be explaining the above in more detail, as well as share documentaries and interviews with the top teachers and athletes of Kung Fu (Wushu) in China and around the globe.

We believe that wushusport.tv will be highly beneficial to the public in terms of health, fitness and understanding oneself.
